Timeclock Troubleshooting

Cleaning the optical sensor

  • If dusty or gritty, first blow on the sensor’s surface to clean off any loose particles.
  • Use adhesive tape to clean the surface of an optical sensor.
  • Use non-abrasive and soft, dry clothing. Be careful not to scratch the sensor’s surface if there are lint particles on it, below them off when the sensor is dry.

Caution:
Do not use any other cleaner otherwise, the sensor may be damaged.
Cleaning solvents that contain alcohol or other strong substance may discolor or crack the fingerprint machine cabinet.

Fingerprint not accepting

If a fingerprint is not accepted by the timeclock device and keeps saying, please try again, it accepts after some try.

Option-1

  • Lift a finger and try to breathe on the finger to make it wet if it is too dry, then put the finger on the fingerprint sensor to verify again.

Option – 2

  • Check Value Menu–>System–>Fingerprint–>1:N match threshold
  • If the value is higher than 35, change it to 35 or decrease it and then test again

Get debug log for troubleshooting

Please refer to the steps to get some information from your device by USB disk as below,

  1. Create a folder named “ZKUdisk” under the root directory of the USB flash disk.
  2. Plug the USB pen drive into the USB slot of your device and then restart it.
  3. The debug information will be saved into “ZKUdisk” folder of your USB flash disk, please compress the folder and then send it to us.

Please Note: The USB Flash Disk has to use the FAT32 file system.

Wireless Connection Reset

If the device still needs to be fixed for you with WiFi. Please follow the instructions I’ve included below.
Please ensure that your WiFi network operates on the 2.4GHz frequency as the time clock does not support WiFi networks operating on the 5GHz frequency.

To start afresh, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Menu –> System –> Reset and initiate a reset of the time clock.
  2. Reboot the time clock after the reset.
  3. Disable DHCP by going to Menu –> Comm –> Ethernet –> DHCP.
  4. Proceed to Menu –> Comm –> Wireless and turn on the wireless feature. Wait for the available networks to appear and then select and connect to your desired network.

Please refrain from manually adding the WiFi SSID.

Troubleshooting Timeclock Connectivity in NG Web Account

If your timeclock is not showing as online in your NG web account, please follow the steps below to check the active internet connection and power connection:

  1. Ethernet Connection:
    • Ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected between the timeclock device and your PC or network switch.
    • Verify the following settings:
      • IP Address: By default, the IP address is set to 192.168.1.201. If necessary, you can modify it, but make sure it is different from the PC’s IP address.
      • Subnet Mask: The default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. Modify it if required.
      • Gateway: The default gateway is set to 0.0.0.0. If the device and PC are on different network segments, set the appropriate gateway address.
      • DNS: By default, the DNS server is set to 0.0.0.0. Adjust it as needed.
      • DHCP: DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol and is used to allocate dynamic IP addresses to clients on a network. Make sure DHCP is enabled if you are using a dynamic IP address.
  2. Power Connection:
    • Ensure that the time clock is properly plugged into a power source and that the power cable is securely connected.

Additionally, check the “Display in Status Bar” option in the timeclock’s settings. This option determines whether network icons are displayed in the status bar of the main interface.

If you are using a dynamic IP address, it is important to have DHCP enabled. DHCP will assign an IP address to the time clock automatically.
